Highlights
We are looking to appoint an experienced HR Advisor with at least three years’ experience. Our HR team advises our team of solicitors, who act as employer of the 55 Support Worker teams who look after our clients in their homes; in total 210 support workers are managed by our HR team.
The role
The successful candidate will be part of a team managed by Lucy Law, HR Director and Anna Tonkinson, Senior HR Manager.
The role is wide ranging and hands on, dealing with a full range of employment issues including
Members of the team at HJS conduct all the relevant consultations, investigations and hearings along with day to day support worker team management – the ideal candidate will have practical experience of the above employment issues.
Court of Protection – Support Worker employment and HR issues
The firm acts as Professional Deputy to over 300 clients who live with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities and approximately 50 of whom employ Support Workers. Support Worker teams range from one Personal Assistant through to a 2 to 1 24-hour care team with between 15 and 20 members.
The Professional Deputy acts as employer on behalf of the client and our team provides a full range of HR and Employment advice in respect of the care teams. In addition to the issuing of contract documentation, obtaining DBS checks, processing payroll, we also deal with maternity/paternity leave, pension auto enrolment, annual pay review and training arrangements.
Experience and skills needed.
The successful candidate will have experience as a HR advisor ideally in a care agency or similar field and be familiar with all aspects of employee relations issues and management of support workers and the regulatory requirements of the care sector. It will be essential to have experience of a full range of employment relations issues in your previous employment and be able to work independently (with advice and supervision), in dealing with the full range of HR/disciplinary issues.
CIPD qualifications are not a requirement but will be of assistance.
Working arrangements
We are looking for someone to work full time.
The successful candidate will be able to work from home for up to 4 days per week if desired, following a period of induction and training which will be office based. Read more here about our approach to hybrid working.

Salary range: Very competitive, depending on experience
