Hugh and many members of the firm have acted for clients with dementia and their families over many years.  Hugh Jones Solicitors became involved in the Dementia Action Alliance movement  in our earliest days, firstly through Director Rachel Dobson's involvement in the Bury Action Alliance. 

Rachel's father suffered from vascular dementia and she was keen to contribute to improving services and awareness of the condition in Bury, where she lives.  On 22nd May 2013, we attended our first Dementia awareness day at the Millgate Centre in Bury, as part of Dementia awareness week, organised by Making Space. 

Making Space have been doing great work in Bury to raise awareness about dementia and since our first involvement we have joined the Dementia Action Alliances in Manchester and Salford, where our office is based.  We have made donations to fund a pop-up dementia café in Bury, Lancashire and have provided free legal advice at several Alliance events and run an event to encourage other professionals to join the Alliance. 

Director Carol McBride is vice Chair of the Salford Dementia Action Alliance and we are also members of the Dementia Action Alliances in Manchester and Chorlton.

Senior Associate Jenny Roberts and Carol McBride have trained to become Dementia Champions and have enabled most members of the firm to become Dementia Friends.
